Become Part of Our Community
At Heartland Humane, we are dedicated to making a compassionate and safe community for both pets and the people who love them. Since 1966, our mission has been to care for homeless animals, provide humane education to our youth, and strengthen the bond between humans and animals. We are committed to ensuring that every pet in need finds the help they deserve, regardless of their health, age, breed, or temperament. Each year, we serve between 1,500 and 2,000 animals with a 95% save rate, and our work is powered entirely by the generosity of our community through donations and volunteer support

Kitten Season is Here!
The time has come for cats in our region, and across the country, to give birth to countless kitten litters. Typically beginning in late spring and continuing throughout summer, kitten season stretches the already-thin resources animal shelters and rescues have when the influx of unwanted cats and kittens crowd shelter and kennel space.
Found Kittens? Here's what to do >
We *LOVE* kittens and we want to give each kitten the best chance at growing up healthy and finding a loving home. The only way we can accomplish this goal is with the support of our community!
