At Heartland Humane Shelter & Care, we understand that making the decision to say goodbye to a beloved pet is never easy. Our compassionate team is here to support you and your pet through this difficult time with care and respect. We offer owner-requested euthanasia services for those who feel their pet’s quality of life has significantly declined due to age, illness, or other circumstances.

What to Expect

Pre-Consultation: We encourage you to speak with our team beforehand to discuss your pet’s condition and determine whether euthanasia is the most appropriate course of action. Note that we reserve the right to decline euthanasia services.

Quiet and Comforting Environment: Euthanasia is performed in a private, calm space to ensure a peaceful experience for your pet.

Compassionate Care: We take the utmost care to ensure your pet is treated with dignity throughout the entire process.

Please note that our service requires that you sign your pet over for euthanasia and we are not able to accommodate owners being present during the procedure.

Aftercare Options

Heartland offers several options for aftercare, including private cremation services if you wish to keep your pet’s ashes, or communal cremation. We can also assist with paw prints or other memorial keepsakes, upon request.

To request euthanasia services, please contact us by phone at 541-757-9000 or email adopt@heartlandhumane.org to schedule an appointment. While walk-ins are not accepted for euthanasia, we strive to accommodate urgent requests based on availability.

Fees based on pet's weight. Note that these fees are for services only, add-on urns and memorial keepsakes will incur additional fees.
