Shelter Notice: COVID-19 precautions are still in place. We will be accepting new volunteers for summer orientation. Please sign up for our Volunteer Waitlist here. If you are a student who will be out of town for the summer, please check back in Fall.
Current volunteers should check their email for bi-weekly updates from the Volunteer Coordinator. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
Volunteer at the Shelter
Make an impact on the lives of the animals by helping with their daily care and shelter operations!
Assignments: Animal Care, Socialization, Administrative/Office, Outreach, Photography, & Ambassador Program
Age requirement: You must be 16 or older to volunteer at the shelter. Youth of all ages may volunteer with a chaperone present. Age restrictions may apply to certain assignments.
Time Commitment: We ask for a 3 month commitment of at least 8 hours a month.
Scheduling: Volunteers are welcome from 9 am til closing 7 days a week, with the exception of national holidays. Once trained, you can sign up for shifts and create your own schedule with our online volunteer platform.
Volunteers begin by attending a 1 hour group orientation, offered quarterly in January, April, July, and October. Links to register for the training are posted the month before. Due to lack of space, orientations are not held at the shelter. Space is limited, so your patience is appreciated. *Please note that this orientation is not for exam volunteers, court-ordered community service, short term projects, or school required hours.*
The next round of orientations will be in summer. Updates will be posted on this page. Use the form below to sign up to be notified once orientations are open. (Please note: new volunteer orientations will not resume until at least 4 weeks after the shelter reopens.)
